Imi 6'2, 200 pounds, gym pounds so not a big gut, but bigger/wider shoulders, 16.5 neck on most shirts, 17 on some. Bought the Large:Pros:- it is warm- well made- not itchy- color (orange) is pretty cool- next to skin fit as it shouldCons:- neck is way too tight, no way I could wear this all day with the neck tied up and that is a big deal, because for skiing that might be exactly what you need.- sleeves are super long, even for my monkey arms, not a big deal per se, but still.- shirt is too short for me, I dont have a long torso either, funny considering how long the sleeves are. This shirt I'd say is 1.5 inches too short.Update to review: I used this shirt for a 10 degree Fahrenheit day, with one mid-layer jacket and a hard shell, it performed beautifully, when I was charging downhill I never felt the sweat being trapped and it regulated my body temperature really good when on the lift, although being too short, it never untucked from my pants so that's good. The neck area though, I can't zip it all the way up and be comfortable, I wore a neck gaiter and that helped. Yes, not a bad shirt, will get a lot of use. Raising my review to 4 stars from 3.I purchased the Helly Hansen Men's Freeze Turtleneck for a ski trip to Mount Tremblant (temperature range: -10 to 15°F) this past December. The shirt was an excellent base layer for any cold weather outdoor activities.Size note: I'm 5'6", 180lbs. and on the bulkier/muscular side. I went with the medium, which ended up being a great fit (semi-tight, but not constricting) in every area EXCEPT the neck. The neck was too tight for me, which was a shame, since the rest of the shirt fit appropriately. If I ever order again, I'll definitely opt for a crew shirt.I wore the Helly's as my base layer during three days of skiing, a dogsledding trip and general outdoor use. They lived up to their reputation, specifically in the areas of warmth and moisture control. Regarding warmth, they were absolutely awesome; I could not ask for more out of a base layer. Even at the coldest temperatures, the shirt kept me extremely warm (I wore them with a pair of insulated ski pants). They were also great at wicking moisture and sweat away from my body. I would frequently find the insulation layer of my ski jacket soaked with sweat, while the Helly's remained dry.All-in-all, I am mostly happy with my purchase and I would recommend these pants to anyone looking for a cold weather base layer, with one caveat: if you have a thick neck, go for a HH crew shirt (similar to: http://www.amazon.com/Helly-Hansen-T-Shirt-Night-Small/dp/B007FPMTEI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1392746203&sr=8-2&keywords=helly+hansen+warm).Just got this last week and have worn it a few times.Initial Impressions: I love the materials it's made out of and wearing it feels great. I've found myself already using it as a go-to around the house and around town. Based on how it's performed in the winter cold just around town I'm confident it'll perform well in strenuous activities and on the slopes.Sizing: These run very small. I'm 6'4, 225lbs with long arms (37 inch sleeves) and more of an athletic build. Depending on the brand, I'm typically an L or XL, but with this I required an XXL. It's close fitting and an athletic cut but not compression levels of tight. Depending on how you like your fit I'm guessing the XXL would work for someone a couple inches taller and 10 or 15 pounds heavier. The XL was too small for me but the XXL is a good fit if a little on the longer side.Style: I got the dark blue with the red cuffs. They look kind of orange in the picture but are more red in person. The look and styling is great overall. I could do without the race stripes on the forearm though. They add nothing and detract a little from the overall appearance in my opinion. Fortunately, they're pretty small compared to other models and don't bother me too much. This turtleneck fits perfectly as a fitted baselayer. I can't do the zipper up to the top as I have a size 18.5 neck and the large simply won't zip up beyond my throat. I've washed it a handful of times and laid it flat to dry. I'm noticing the the rubber stripes along the forearm are beginning to peel which is a shame. This can only be used as a baselayer now. In the beginning, it was a perfect top to wear with a pair of jeans. It really is too bad as I look fabulous in this top.I was really wanting to like this product. the reviews are great for it. However I did find it to be incredibly itchy. it fit great and looked good but wasnt really what i wanted. That being said my roommate loves it so its his christmas present. Its not itchy for him so i guess it depends on the person. I would say the sleeves run a little longer than alot of other shirts.I bought the top and bottoms for my husband who suffers from the winter cold tempatures. He loves them! They fit perfectly (top X-large, bottom large - he's just under 6' and about 180 lbs.) The arm length is perfect - down to the wrist, not half way up the forearm. We are in MD and are currently having very cold (6 degree lows and 29 degree highs) and he is warm and toasty. They fit well under regular winter clothing and wash well - no shinkage. The perfect base layer. The synthetic inside layer against your skin, combined with the wool exterior make a great tech base layer for skiing or outdoor winter activity, without the smell that some 100% synthetics get during vigorous activity (e.g. skiing), and without the itch that 100% wool can impart. Snug fit but perfect as such for a base layer under any kind of mid-layer or a down jacket. Will look to buy more to replace my 100% synthetic base layers...Comparison HH Merino Wool & 2 versions of HH Warm (hybrid Merino Wool + Lifa bonded together)Poor performance of HH Warm Crew due to cost cutting but fabulous Warm ½ zip.Ranking for Warmth :-1. HH Warm ½ zip2. HH Merino Wool (difficult to find now, maybe discontinued)3. HH Warm crew neck (the least warm due to cost cutting – see below)Ranking for Comfort :-1. HH Warm crew neck2. HH Warm ½ zip3. HH MerinoRanking for Value :-1. HH Warm ½ is very expensive but the bonded Lifa makes it very comfortable when your body is working hard and perspiring.2. HH Merino is significantly cheaper and runs First equal ifa. You are not perspiring very muchb. Have it washed a number of times to lessen itchiness a little (but would never be entirely eliminated)3. Is a little cheaper than the ½ zip Warm but can cost more than the 98% Merino Wool & 2% Elastine base layer. However, for value, it is by far the worse.(I have included the dates here because I have been wearing Lifa since 1979 and there are slight differences over the years etc.) Notice the HH signature stripes along both arms of the Warm. In 2014 version of ordinary Lifa, it is 29 mm wide. In 2013 version of HH Warm, the stripes were 37mm. This strip of stripes have gotten wider to 44mm in 2014 version (that’s 15% or the circumference of the arm as measured below the elbow !).I used to wonder but thought the stripes were just decoration. Up to 2016 I had no reason to doubt the quality of HH as we use HH survival suits offshore and they proved second to none. That’s because I have always worn them under Gortex Windstopper or cotton Ventile jackets when doing outdoor sport activities. However, in November 2016 I worn it under work coveralls (poly-cotton) when painting the garden fence. A “Nor’easterly” was blowing; no problem with warmth in the body but the arms were cold on account of the useless stripes. Changed to HH Merino Wool and problem gone.If money is no object, it is still not automatic choice to pick the ½ zip Warm, because although these arms are all Merino Wool covered with decoration stripes painted or transferred, the top of the zip is an irritation to the chin.My conclusion was cost-cutting tarnished the reputation of HH. I will not be recommending HH Warm crew neck to offshore crews. My conclusion was based on 4 HH Warm ½ zip, 9 HH Warm Crew, and 3 HH Merino Wool long sleeved tops. For those who could afford it, HH Warm ½ zip is good. For companies providing PPE & Clothing to employees, better value could be had from ordinary Lifa, and a thin layer of fleece worm under coveralls would be cost effective alternative.Seems like a good quality product, provided in a nice box. However, it was slightly too large for me, so I had to order the medium one. I am 1.82m tall and 80kg, so "Large" should have been a good fit. However, it was not tight enough/close to the body, so wouldn't probably be warm in that case. I have replaced it by a "Medium" one, which is much better (although slightly shorter than expected). The sleeves are very long, which is positive. The zip/collar is quite tight on both sizes.Amazon tried to charge me £6 to return the product ("Too large" reason), although I think the sizing is not right. Luckily, I managed to return for free just selecting another return reason...In term of the quality, it's well made but quite thin. I went cycling by 10c (so not extremely cold), and it was not sufficiently warm by itself, under a windproof jacket, so a mid-layer would be still required in Autumn/Winter/Spring. However, it did stay dry.The body & sleeve lenght and good in X large for a tall person. However the width across the shoulders could be a little wider . At present the neck is tight fitting because of the shoulder width being a little short. This brings tightness around the neck; for some this may be acceptable but it makes it irritating for those who would like a less restricting fit. Because of this and having been disappointed with this XL purchase for the reasons mentioned I decided this time to go up a size with a further purchase ( Ebayed this one). The result was much more comfortable in the XXl size yet still body huggingly warm Otherwise great tops and good value for money.Very good thermal base layer. Feels good and fits well. One issue though is if you sweat a lot when you exert yourself, like me, then the wool mix can get quite cold and stay cold. So for climbing in winter I would not wear this thermal when slogging up to the base of the route but it is great to change into when you get there and as long as it does not get too damp then it is a very warm base layer. Likewise, not a base layer I would choose for winter hillwalking. This is a lovely piece of kit and I like the zip closure for extra warmth of venting. Have been running pure merino for years now and they are superb but do they last long before holes set in. Had a lifa for 20 years and still going strong so I’m hoping this is the perfect combo - wore it with a hard shell in pretty nasty conditions and it’s already a fave
